Last weekend my wonderful boyfriend asked me to marry him after a beautiful day spent a Blenheim Palace. Obviously I said YES! The poor man has been nagged by myself and my friends for such a long time that it seemed only fair to!
We are so happy about it and have been overwhelmed by the messages of support from all of our family and friends. We have had so many beautiful cards sent to us and purely because this is meant to be a design blog I thought I would share some of the best with you. I'll try my best for this not to become a wedding blog over the next 18month - we are thinking of a September 2014 wedding! - but I am looking forward to sharing a few cool designs with you.
If you follow DesignJessica over on Facebook you'll have seen a few of my new personalised prints. I am considering starting up an Etsy business for these to be commissioned though as I am always getting requests for them. What do you think?
They are licensed 1,000 sticker books and they seem to be quite popular. I still see them now in Waterstones and WHSmith and despite the fact that there are 1,000 stickers in each (design nightmare) they were great fun to work on!
So I think it's time for a little designJessica update. Lots happened at the end of last year and I feel like I haven't really kept you in the loop. As you know back in October we went to India for two weeks and within a few days of our return we left Bath. I know like in Witney in Oxfordshire where I now run my little design business from my new studio just outside town.
Here is my new little house in the snow, it's a quaint little Victorian cottage just on the outskirts of Witney. We now have two gardens, a conservatory and two on-suit bedrooms, quite a step up from our pokey flat in Bath. I have already planted my veg seeds in the conservatory, I'm investing in hunter wellies and it's all gone a bit 'The Good Life'... I have dreams of chickens too!
It's taking quite a while to adjust but luckily the people here are great and look what is just down the road - Blenheim Palace.
I am looking forward to discovering new places and exploring Oxford. I certainly miss beautiful Bath especially all of my great friends but I am hoping that this move will find new avenues for me to explore. Today's job? Checking out the publishing houses in Oxford...watch this space!
Hello lovely bloggers, so sorry that it's already February and I haven't blogged since the first on January! Must try harder! I'm hoping you'll forgive me and accept my excuse that I have just been so busy with work. January seems to be so busy, I guess everyone wants me to design for them, not a bad thing I suppose, it'll make the tax man happy.
A while ago I designed and illustrated this. It's a children's activity book to make your own cut out 3D monsters and zombies as well as draw your own. It was a great project to work on, really enjoyable and lovely and creative. I really enjoyed this project and I think it's been quite a success!
I am a graphic and product designer and have been working commercially for over six years. I am currently working as a full time freelancer in Carterton, Oxfordshire creating print ready designs for a multitude of industries including children's publishing, commercial business premises, social stationery designs and surface pattern design.
Previously I have worked in children's publishing, greetings card design and stationery agencies after getting my BA (Hons) at Bath Spa University and graduating in 2006.
