Wedding Fever and a New Arrival

Hope you all had a great festive time and are all geared up for a happy and productive 2013. We have just returned from Ireland and a visit to the in-laws where we met my boyfriends tiny and lovely new niece. She's so tiny. I have a horrible feeling that after a few cuddles my boyfriend is getting broody!

A few weeks ago my beautiful friend Ellie and fantastic children's' author married her wonderful husband at Bath Assembly Rooms. It's such a beautiful place to be married and it was a fantastic day.

I was lucky enough to be asked to design her order of service and here it is below with the invite, sadly not designed by me as it's pretty cool along with those cracking illos! Not sure who's to thank for those but they're very impressive.

Congratulations Ellie :)

I was very fortunate to have worked on this wonderful license at my previous job. These are just a few of the designs that are available for purchase in Australia and NZ.

Wellsway Dental Update

Can you remember the stationery and door sign I developed for Wellsway Dental Practice, well here are the final manufactured and installed signage for the outside. I am proud!

Sorry about the poor quality of the photo's, my poor little iPhone wasn't having a happy day.

My wonderful friend and ex-colleague Louise designed the most recent range of Joules products. I think they're beautiful! Well done girl! You can find them here.

Exploring Goa

This morning after breakfast just before the midday sun could roast our delicate European 'can't remember the last time we saw sunshine' skin Fly Boy and myself took a little walk down the beach to the local village near Agonda Beach. In a little bookshop hidden away were these beautiful hand carved wooden blocks. I love them, almost can't wait to get home to use them...almost that is, after all why would you want to rush away from this?!

Well I've done it again! Failed miserably to blog in such a long time...but do not worry bloggers, I'm still alive and taking a well deserved two week holiday to India.

You see I have been so busy with my new freelance career that I just haven't had the time to blog or add any current work i have been doing. All of the commercial work I have been doing is either confidential or owned by the companies I am working for. I'm hoping to have something for you soon though as the guilt of neglecting you is pretty bad - lets hope I can live up to it!

I'll also pop up a few arty photos of India and tell you all about how wonderful this country is - seriously, book yourself a flight straight away! It's the must creative and colourful country I have ever visited and just check out the view!

Yup, after a crazy week travelling through Northern India we have now reached Goa and our lovely beach hut - it's very peaceful and I have finally have some time to blog. Life isn't too bad really. I'll do my best to update you when I get back to chilly old England. I have some other exciting news!

Umm....what happened to September?!?

Sorry bloggers, looks like September got the better of me and I wasn't able to blog. Please forgive me, I am rubbish! However you'll be pleased to know that I am so busy because the freelancing is going so well. I have never been busier! If any of you are ever wondering if you should go freelance then DO IT! DO IT NOW! I love my new life.

I was recently asked to design a new ident for a local race horse trainer and here is it.

And now I must rush back to the grind stone and crack on with some new designs!

I miss you

This is the view from my studio - on sunny days it makes working quite difficult really. I want to be reading a book and sipping something cold sat in there. Today the sun is breaking through....hmmm.

In other news the freelancing is going incredibly well, so well in fact that I worked the whole bank holiday and really enjoyed it. With my new found freelancing freedom I have decided to take my bank-holiday-in-lieu as soon as my lovely boyfriend comes home. He's been away for a month now but is due back in 3 weeks. Looking forward to a mini-break with him. In the meantime I have sent him this along with a pile of sweets and some ice pops, apparently it's 35º today... Bath is a grumpy 16º but, it's not raining which is a surprise for August!

Freelance week 1

Hello lovely bloggers,
So this is it, the Friday of my first 'official' freelancing week and wow hasn't it been a busy one?! I have had meeting after meeting after meeting. I have emailed a million contacts with the hope of some work. I have even had some time to design and next week is looking even busier....the worry of never having enough work has been eclipsed by the thought that I might not be able to take it all on! You may have spotted that I have been doing a little bit of blogging too? Anyway, I am happy, life is good and if the sun could pop it hat on for a bit today I would have no complaints at all. Hope you all have a lovely weekend, my sister is coming for a visit, I can't wait!

Also, especially for my lovely Fly-boy who is a very long way-away in a very dusty place - Look! I finally finished it :)

British Tea

Hello lovely bloggers - well, the Olympics finished, but what a brilliant time to be a Brit! National pride is sky high and everyone is smiling through the rainy summer!

Yesterday was my first official day as a full time freelancer and it was brilliant! I worked a whole day sending emails and planning designs and the day flew by, I love my new life choice. Lets hope it stays that way. In the meantime I have started a new pattern range based on the pattern above that I hope to upload onto Spoonflower soon.

...and as if by magic! Ta da!

Company Designs

I uploaded a few new company designs onto my website over the weekend. They include a brochure and logo design for a local housing development and a company profile leaflet for a Bath based electrical company. You can have a little look here.

In other news I received my first proper piece of freelance work since announcing my new career plan. It looks like things are starting to pay off.

Guest post?

Hello everyone,
What a busy time it has been lately, I am loving the proper arrival of British summer though. The sun is shining and it makes me happy!
So I was wondering if any other designers/artists wanted to guest post on my blog? I have heard it's a great way to get your name out there and a good way to get more followers. What do you think? Worth a go? Anyone done it before and can offer any tips?

Tuesday, 24 July 2012

Everything is going a little bit Olympic crazy over here at the moment. With only 3 days to go the tempo is really building for the opening ceremony and the two weeks of sport. I have tickets to the hockey and cannot wait!

I have just spotted this on Design Week and really like it, time for a download maybe?

'Sure to come in handy this summer as spectators struggle to get to grips with rhythmic gymnastics, the modern pentathlon and other Olympic delights, clever app Curly’s Guide to Sports provides a simple explanation of the rules of 74 different sports.'

Happy Monday Bloggers!
Hope the sun was shining with you too this weekend. I had a very relaxing weekend in the park listening to a brass band and reading my book, it was very peaceful.

Dunelm Mill are selling some of my Vintage Map and Keep Calm designs - you have seen a lot of the Keep Calm stuff but I thought I'd show you my new pen designs and the very first rage I did at my current job.
